reasoned debate. high rwa style
ok. so if this is the "reasoned debate" the texas gop is worried about cutting off.......... where's that switch. and a point of clarification - i do not suggest that bi-sexuality is chosen. i am suggesting to the person who seems to think they are straight, but that it would be just as easy to choose to be gay (and apparently satanically tempting to many) and that the only thing that keeps them straight is choosing not to give in to temptation, that perhaps they aren't as heterosexually oriented as they would like.

flaunting yer ignorance
When I was young and dumb and in college, the homo propaganda pushed for civil unions so people could be with their partners. I fell for the line, believe the sob story of death bed hospital room admittance, etc. The gay propaganda at the time always stressed, "We don't want marriage, just a vehicle to make sure our loved ones (i.e. partners) aren't left out." When, they got their civil unions they went straight for marriage. Now, it's not enough that they have marriage, but they want to force people to take part against their beliefs. I hope a lot of Christian-owned or photographers, bakers, limo companies suddenly develop a severe case of scheduling conflicts when these sorts of ceremonies arise.
someotherdude:
Exactly. There were already methods for them to be admitted to hospital rooms, control burial arrangements, and manage their inheritance. They are called powers of attorney, wills, and trusts. Demand marriage be redefined to solve those problems is akin to demanding a ban on nails simply because some people are too cheap, dumb, ignorant, or in denial to buy or borrow a hammer.
Me:
yes. how dare "they" expect to have access to all the rights and privileges of citizenship as you do! the audacity of "those folks!"
somedude:
I used to think exactly like that, but as time progressed the realization that homos (the activists, at least) don't ask for tolerance, but demand approval began to weigh quite heavily.
Me:
well, you don't have to make guesses or assumptions. as one of those activists, rights and privileges of citizenship that you demand for yourself are the goal. If by approval you mean having to accept the reality that gays and lesbians are, in fact, married (not gay married, just married) under the law. don't have to like it, don't have to go to your cousin's wedding, you can complain, etc. - but you cannot create your own private reality in which you privately divorce legally married couples (and expect anyone but yourself to live in it) , nor flaunt any laws (without consequence) that govern that legal contract.
someotherdude:
Flaunting any laws? Did they pick up a copy of the statute and wave it someone's face?
The other day you decided to another commenters by saying he (she?) did not know the meaning of words. Before doing that again, you might want to learn the difference between flaunt and flout.
I for one intend to flout those who flaunt their ignorance.
Me:
flaunt
verb
: to show (something) in a very open way so that other people will notice
: to show a lack of respect for (something, such as a rule)
transitive verb
: to treat contemptuously (flaunted the rules)
sorry. nice try but no cigar

if you are a business owner with a license you have been granted to do business with the public, for about half a century that has not been the case in the U.S.

you forget, every human has a sexual orientation. doesn't matter your skin pigment, culture, gender, economic class, hair color.... and there are gays and lesbians within all those other aspects of identity. so there were definitely gay and lesbian slaves. this isn't the pain and oppression olympics

this law is meant to allow christians to do ignore nondiscrimination laws simply by saying that they are "prevented from using the person's property in a manner that the person finds satisfactory to fulfill the person's religious mission"
again, churches are not part of this bill, as they are already covered. this is to allow members of churches to pretend their secular open to the gengeral public business is a church

it most certainly does do that. that is the intent of the law. ignorance of reality doesn't change it

the word trivial refers to infractions, not the type of service. it does not limit the type of service that can be denied, nor does it prevent infractions

the only thing that is needed to prove substantial burden is "that a person is prevented from using the person's property in a manner that the person finds satisfactory to fulfill the person's religious mission" would be pretty hard to prove that a person actually did find the transaction to satisfactorily fullfil the person's religious mission. notice, it is left up to the person to define what their religious mission is.
this really is as bad as people are saying.

the words trivial , technical or de minimis refer to infractions, not the type of service being denied.
with the definition of undue burden having the extremely subjective and low bar of "Unreasonable burden" is " that a person is prevented from using the person's property in a manner that the person finds satisfactory to fulfill the person's religious mission" since most folks i have heard supporting this are of the mind that part of their religious mission is ridding the world of homosexuals so god won't smite the united states, i don't expect it to be too long before this ill considered piece of garbage is struck down.

perhaps because it is not an "alternative lifestyle" , it is a sexual orientation. it is a fact of life. human beings have sexual orientations and lives.
what is it that you think you are disagreeing with? because the words you used suggest you are attempting to disagree with the existence of gay, lesbian and bi human beings. kind of like disagreeing with left-handedness or blue eyes.

5 million gallons of water thats ruined
we'll conflate with the water new yorkers consume
in 8 minutes time and just hope that its clean

we're here to create the "jobs of the future" for you frakin community! Yes, we're creating a demand, spurring new growth in exciting fields! You can never have enough radiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, undertakers, toxic remediation teams. How would you fancy running a water bottling company? opportunities are endless! fire fighters for those emergency times when you try to use that thing that used to turn on the water- what was that again? A faucet?. We're helping make nebulizers and asthma medication a growth industry – our stockholders will thank us. And finally we are leading the way in spurring new growth in the construction industry. You're welcome for the earthquakes. This has been a public service announcement. With mandolin.
