god loves a bigot

does scalia really have no knowledge of history or does he really not know that the Nazi's melded church and state - just not the catholic church - and felt they were sanctioned by god to commit their atrocities?

You Lookin' at Me?

From the early press blah blah from the administration as they launched their premeditated attack against the sovereign state of Iraq in violation of international law -(footnote 1)
"Your fate will depend on your actions. It will be no defense to say i was just following orders" - George W. Bush, message to the Iraqi people as he launched an invasion of Iraq in violation of many international treaties signed by the US, regarding use of military force. (ibid)

"we are dealing with people who are perfectly willing to lie to the world to attempt to further their case, and to the extent that people lie are ultimately caught lying and they lose their credibility and one would think it wouldn't take long for that to happen dealing with people like this" - Donald Rumsfield, press conference - early U.S. Bush the Younger attack on Iraq.

yes, one would think it wouldn't take so long for 'people like this' to lose their credibilty in the U.S. - as they have outside the bubble.

During the "major combat operations" after which Bush proclaimed victory , when U.S. soldiers were taken prisoner, the broadcast of footage of those prisoners was denounced as a breach of the geneva convention,
(footnote 2). Bush said he expected U.S. prisoners to be treated as humanely as Iraqi prisoners of war were treated. but since all who are now kidnapped by the U.S. are declared unlawful combattants and therefore in the administration's policy not protected by any legal constraints, i'm sure that george has changed the standard of expected conduct.

More often now the fact that the invasion was an illegal action from the start, and cannot be redeemed by claims of good intentions is left behind, and the question of whether more "troops" or less "troops" were needed at the start or more or less are needed now to "finish the job" dominates. It is hard to get excited about the call by the more extreme warmongers for a pullout of "troops" - although their argument is rational - that the presence of an occupying is the source of much of the "instability". With the calls to repeat the pattern in neighboring states, it seems more a desire to free up "resources" to be used elsewhere. As the ongoing debacle in Afghanistan has been hailed as a model for the Iraq conflict, it wouldn't be suprising to see the neo-conservative extremists push for a repetition of the "iraqi victory' in Iran, Syria, etc. 4 More Wars 4 More Wars!!

geneva convention? what the hell is that?

geneva convention . not just a 'quaint' old document-as our new attorney general believes - its the law.

(treaties ratified by the United States, and
therefore part of the supreme law of the land under our Constitution)

http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/91.htm

some excerpts...

Members of the armed forces and other persons mentioned in the following Article, who are wounded or sick, shall be respected and protected in all circumstances.

Any attempts upon their lives, or violence to their persons, shall be strictly prohibited; in particular, they shall not be murdered or exterminated, subjected to torture or to biological experiments; they shall not wilfully be left without medical assistance and care, nor shall conditions exposing them to contagion or infection be created.

Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind. Prisoners of war who, owing to their physical or mental condition, are unable to state their identity, shall be handed over to the medical service. The identity of such prisoners shall be established by all possible means, subject to the provisions of the preceding paragraph.

Prisoners of war shall be quartered under conditions as favourable as those for the forces of the Detaining Power who are billeted in the same area. The said conditions shall make allowance for the habits and customs of the prisoners and shall in no case be prejudicial to their health.

The foregoing provisions shall apply in particular to the dormitories of prisoners of war as regards both total surface and minimum cubic space, and the general installations, bedding and blankets.

Israeli gunmen accidentally murder egyptian instead of "taking out" potential "palestinian evil doer".

Foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev said it appeared the soldiers spotted “suspicious movements” in the volatile border area, opened fire and mistakenly killed Egyptian soldiers. Seems the "rules of engagement" - or rather "times you can kill whoever the fuck you want" have deemed the "volatile border area - or any place palestinians live" as a free fire zone - shoot anything that moves , say it was 'suspicious' later. Nothing new, just rare that it was reported. Perhaps extending the murder outside the military zone of press censorship made it harder to conceal. oops. we meant to kill palestinians without knowing for sure who they were, not egyptians.

good goddess the news coming from this county i live in is embarassing. sure, maybe half of us aren't crazy. maybe even some folks who voted for bush were either just coked up or fell for his ploy of gripping fear and loathing of foreigners, or believed that the gays will destroy the institution of serial hetrosexual marriage/divorce - the anarchists will boil the children alive - and god only knows what us gay anarchists will do. they may still be able to full live productive lives, despite their mental handicap.

And gee, the military might be sorry for leaving wounded prisoners of war laying on the ground for a day , then shooting at least one of them in the head. And this is what they were willing to do on camera. but you can believe the embedded reporters when they claim that no civilians were harmed in the assault on the major population center of Fallujah. after all, anyone still left in the city after threatened with death by their benefactors if they remained behind deserved what they got. international legal constraints and war crimes conventions are for pussies. the U.S. will do whatever the fuck they want, and expect you to thank them for liberating your kids, parents, siblings and neighbors from their limbs or life. gotta destroy the country to save it.

goodthink

back from a weekend of no t.v. or radio in the catskills, hanging out with a bunch of left to radical musicians (not assuming everyone there shared the same politics, just the ones i spent time with). was invited to move up to boston, friendly blue country that hasn't legislated discrimination into their state constitution. had 7 hours on the way back to catch up on the "news".

same folks who were screaming last year that Iraq was guilty of war crimes for showing U.S. prisoners of war on t.v. are now excusing the televised shooting of a prone wounded unarmed prisoner of war in the head, claiming that the U.S. has no obligation to follow any international law.

heard one idiot today saying even if as "the liberal media wants us to believe, which i don't" and the guy that got shot was innocent and all, that makes the score one for us, 3,000 for them. apparently suggesting once again that the population of Iraq should be subject to collective punishment for the deaths in the world trade center, somehow suggesting that this is the first Iraqi killed by the U.S., and using the argument that 'everything changed after 9-11' to mean that any conceivable atrocity commited by U.S. forces is allowed, even encouraged to exact revenge.

it has been the common theme from the right , willful ignorance of reality coupled with a maniacal lust for new corpses and an abscence of any moral code of conduct for the soldiers of god.

after all, these horrible people aren't part of a standing army, and don't necessarily have uniforms . it passed pretty much unnoticed when the cia spook running the 'interim government' in Iraq boasted of a succesful police operation in which the Iraqi forces posed as civilians in order to suprise, kidnap and kill the evil doers.

now the estimates for civilian dead in Fallujah- conservative estimates, not counting those who may be buried beneath the rubble that once was their home - is 800.

pounding, whacking, and penetration

The U.S. snuff film has now entered a new phase, having pounded and whacked the victim for days, the actors have begun penetrating the population of Fallujah. All the propaganda has been aimed at "softening up" the U.S. citizens for the atrocities to be commited in the next days. While it is said to be impossible or not worth the effort to determine the number of humans killed by U.S. actions, those killed by the "evil doers" is reported daily.

While the assualt on the people of Fallujah has been justified by the U.S. as being the will of the "elected" CIA operative Prime Minister Allawi, In a direct challenge to Allawi on Monday, Iraqi President Ghazi Ajil Yawer, a Sunni, said an attack on Fallouja was unnecessary. "The way the coalition is managing the crisis is wrong," Yawer told the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas. "It is as if someone shot his horse in the head to kill a fly that landed on it. The fly flies away, and the horse dies," he said. http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/asection/la-fg-letter5nov05,1,2934668,print.story?coll=la-news-a_section

The words used to describe the liberation of children and adults from their legs and arms, liberation of mothers from their children, liberation of fathers, mothers, sisters , brothers, from their families, fellow human beings from their their lives and the right of males between the ages of 15 and 45 to leave their homes have been downright pornographic. At least the daily spams I get promising access to porn sites where teens are pounded, films of deep penetration and whacking, non-consensual bondage are honest about what they are selling. The daily corporate news has reduced itself to the level of pornographers trying to skirt the censor by hiding behind euphemisms. The premeditated U.S. fucking of the population of Iraq is being sold as a moral crusade.

After the murder of 3000 U.S. citizens the question was repeatedly asked, where is the moral condemnation from the islamic community. Now, with an estimated 100,000 Iraqi civilian deaths, and the inevitable slaughter of many more in the premeditated assault on a city of hundreds of thousands - i have to ask, where is the moral outrage from the christian right who supposedly elected mr. bush for his defense of human life? Maybe they are still worn out by the recent epic electoral struggle with the devil to make sure that all us fags don't ruin the god given right of heterosexuals to affirm the sanctity of marriage with several unions and divorces. One must put the mortal sins in perspective.
Blame it on the secular humanists, who deny our children and adults the knowledge of what the 10 commandments really are. if judges can't put huge sculptures in the courthouse and some nosy liberal activist judge has legislated from the bench that the old testament can't be taught as the gospel in public schools, how can one expect the faithful know what the hell god expects from them.

But who needs to think when their president has been chosen by god. if it was good enough for the taliban, its good enough for us.

The marines then lined up and their chaplain blessed them with holy oil to protect them.

"God's people would be anointed with oil," the chaplain said, as he lightly dabbed oil on the marines' foreheads.

The marines drew parallels from the verse with their present situation, where they perceive themselves as warriors fighting barbaric men opposed to all that is good in the world.

"Victory belongs to the Lord," another young marine read.

from 'with god on our side' bob dylan
.........
But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.
........
So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.

what?

The Liberation Continues...
the occupying forces in Iraq sealed off all roads to the city of Falluja on Friday, and told civilians to get the fuck out - we're going to destroy the place. while telling people to get out of dodge, they also announced their intention to kidnap any male under the age of 45 that tried to comply with their orders.
While forcing 300,000 people to flee their homes or face a violent death may be considered a bad thing to do if done in Yugoslavia - the U.S. appointed yes man in Iraq puts the whole thing in perspective. "We intend to liberate the people and bring the rule of law" to the city, Allawi said.

Collateral Damage On the Home Front

<>Perhaps preparing for upcoming battle in Iraq, New Jersey Air National Guard strafe a school building in New Jersey. The F-16 shot 25 rounds into the roof and parking lot of the Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School Wednesday night. Since it happened in the U.S. and not Iraq, officials are trying to figure out what the hell happened.

gripping fear and loathing

week started off with a scare and went downhill. the first time in the 3 years our local peace vigil has been gathering, some deranged fellow went past the normal shouting of obscenities and physically attacked. the same fellow offered $50 to people he passed by on the sidewalk to go beat someone up for him, jumped out a 2nd story window, then was arrested inside the Kerry/Edwards headquarters while ranting incoherently. 6 or 7 people had called 911.

so wednesday i wake up after a couple hours of sleep and too many beers to someone downstairs yelling about the deranged fellow who had been elected. ain't no 911 to call about this criminal, so we're going to have to do what we can to neutralize his power to do evil. - and no, i'm not using that word the same way the CIA and our killer in chief et al do.
